Biologist Palaeontologist, Head of Australia’s first  climate change commission

In 2005 Professor Tim Flannery was named Australian Humanist Of the Year (AHOY) and in 2007 Australian of the Year, and in 2011 he was made a Knight of the Order of Saint Charles. He is also a Founding Member of the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists, a group of Australian scientists, economists and businessmen working on solutions for the protection of water, land and biodiversity.

He was one of the Founding Trustees of the Australian Wildlife Conservancy and Member of the WWF International Council. In 2007, he co-founded and chaired the Copenhagen Climate Council, a group of businesses and communities that worked with the Danish government at COP15. In 2011, he was also appointed Australia’s First Climate Commissioner, and in 2013 he established the Australian Climate Council, an independent, non-profit organization, of which th is topday the Senior Advisor. He is a member of the Sustainability Advisory Board of Tata Power (India).
